ZUIDOOST GELOOFT!

Zuidoost gelooft! bundelt krachten voor vrede en harmonie.

Amsterdam, 24 december 2024 – Gisterenavond werd Charity’s House in Amsterdam getransformeerd tot een oase van vrede en verbinding tijdens het evenement ‘Zuidoost gelooft!’. Dit unieke initiatief, opgezet door David Tapirima, Jeugd Politie Amsterdam unit Bijlmermeer en Nathalie Linger-Sumter, Gemeente Amsterdam Stadsdeel Zuidoost in samenwerking met Amrita Tewari, Damroo Foundation International, bracht religieuze en spirituele leiders van diverse achtergronden samen.

Met als doel om de kracht van diversiteit en eenheid te benadrukken, deelden vertegenwoordigers van de Christelijke, Islamitische, Hindoe, Boeddhistische, Sikh en Joodse gemeenschap hun visie op vrede vanuit hun eigen geloofsovertuiging. De avond stond bol van inspirerende verhalen, muziek en dialoog, waarbij saamhorigheid centraal stond.

Het evenement werd geopend door Vayhishta Miskin, bestuurslid stadsdeel Zuidoost, en afgesloten door een toespraak van Tanja Jadnanansing, voorzitter Amsterdam stadsdeel Zuidoost. Beide spraken woorden van waardering en hoop voor een toekomst waarin verschillende culturen en geloofsovertuigingen samen kunnen leven in harmonie. Ook de toespraken van de Sectorhoofd Jeugdpolitie Amsterdam, Olivier Duthil en Buddy van Defensie spraken hun verwondering en waardering uit over de avond.

Een bijzonder moment was de muzikale bijdrage van jeugdpolitieagent David Tapirima, die met het koor van Pentecost Rivival Church het nummer ‘Something inside so strong’ ten gehore bracht. Zijn initiatief was de aanleiding voor dit bijzondere evenement.

Als blijk van waardering ontvingen alle religieuze en spirituele leiders een persoonlijk Certificate of Appreciation en een bos bloemen.

“Zuidoost gelooft! is een groot succes geweest en was ver boven onze verwachtigen. De energie spetterde er vanaf,” aldus Amrita Tewari, directeur Damroo Foundation International en kernteam Zuidoost gelooft!. “Het heeft laten zien dat we ondanks onze verschillen veel gemeen hebben en dat we samen kunnen werken aan een betere toekomst tegen polarisatie en geweld om religie. Vandaag hebben we een ijzersterk signaal uitgezonden voor een samenleving in vrede en harmonie en hebben we God samen gevierd. Ik weet zeker dat Hij nu blij en tevreden is dat al Zijn kindereren hier samen hebben gestaan als eenheid. We zijn er trots op wat we hier vandaag met zijn allen hebben neer gezet”.

Over Zuidoost gelooft!

Zuidoost gelooft! is een initiatief dat streeft naar meer begrip, respect en verbondenheid tussen verschillende culturen en geloofsovertuigingen in Amsterdam Zuidoost. Door middel van dit soort evenementen willen de organisatoren bijdragen aan een samenleving waarin iedereen zich thuis voelt en waar diversiteit wordt gezien als een kracht.

Zuidoost gelooft! joins forces for peace and harmony Amsterdam

24th December 2024 – Last night Charity's House in Amsterdam was transformed into an oasis of peace and connection during the event 'Zuidoost gelooft!'. This unique initiative, set up by David Tapirima, Youth Police Amsterdam unit Bijlmermeer and Nathalie Linger-Sumter, Municipality of Amsterdam Stadsdeel Zuidoost in collaboration with Amrita Tewari, Damroo Foundation International, brought together religious and spiritual leaders from diverse backgrounds. With the aim of emphasizing the power of diversity and unity, representatives of the Christian, Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh and Jewish communities shared their vision of peace from their own faith.

The evening was full of inspiring stories, music and dialogue, with solidarity central. The event was opened by Vayhishta Miskin, board member of the Southeast district, and closed by a speech by Tanja Jadnanansing, chairman of the Amsterdam Southeast district. Both spoke words of appreciation and hope for a future in which different cultures and beliefs can live together in harmony. The speeches of the Amsterdam Youth Police Sector Head, Olivier Duthil and Buddy from Defense also expressed their amazement and appreciation for the evening.

A special moment was the musical contribution of youth police officer David Tapirima, who performed the song 'Something inside so strong' with the choir of Pentecost Rivival Church. His initiative was the reason for this special event.

As a token of appreciation, all religious and spiritual leaders received a personal Certificate of Appreciation and a bouquet of flowers.

“Zuidoost gelooft! has been a great success and far exceeded our expectations. The energy was fantastic," says Amrita Tewari, director of Damroo Foundation International and core team Zuidoost gelooft!. “It has shown that despite our differences, we have a lot in common and that we can work together for a better future against polarisation and violence because of religion. Today we sent out a strong signal for a society in peace and harmony and celebrated God together. I am sure that He is now happy and satisfied that all His children have stood here together as one. We are proud of what we all have achieved here today.”

About Zuidoost gelooft! is an initiative that strives for more understanding, respect and connection between different cultures and beliefs in Amsterdam South East. Through these types of events, the organisers want to contribute to a society where everyone feels at home and where diversity is seen as a strength.

On the evening of October 29, 2024, we came together for a truly extraordinary event that celebrated spirituality, Hindu heritage, and art, all infused with deep Bhakti for the divine. The evening began with a Vedic Opening Ceremony, featuring several priests chanting as our honored guest, Shri Arun Yogiraj Ji, made his entrance. Attendees engaged in an interesting Q&A session that illuminated the magic behind the creations of our esteemed guest, whose presence exuded wisdom, admiration, and inspiration while he shared his journey with us. The atmosphere was blissful and nearly meditative as we enjoyed various classical artistic performances that showcased our rich cultural heritage. As the night progressed, we felt increasingly fortunate in his presence, culminating in a treasured photo opportunity for everyone after a touching Vedic Blessing Ceremony. This gathering not only deepened our understanding of spirituality but also reinforced our sense of community, leaving all attendees with a profound connection to both the divine and the works of the Divine.
